I Used to Think Electric Drum Sets Were Stupid

Since I recently moved to the city where I have close neighbors, I have decided that I am going to buy an electronic drum set in order to keep my volume low.
An electric drum set never appealed to me until I actually thought about the benefits of it. When I lived in the country, I thought electric drums were pretty much stupid. I mean, drums are supposed to be an acoustic instrument. Why then would someone want to plug them into an electrical outlet and make them electronic? It made absolutely no sense to me at all.
After setting up my studio out in the garage, I found myself beating lightly on my acoustic drums, and it really started to irritate me. Now I appreciate the idea of owning an electronic drum set. Now I just have to do some research on what exactly I need to build my electric drum kit.
